June 1st, 2010 by admin

Because it’s cuddly, the Bichon Frise is popular among families with little children. For one, it doesn’t shed a lot and is a hypoallergenic dog.It is fantastic with children and plays with everyone in the family. It can be trained and proves to be a good house-minder.

Just like other pets, Bichon Frises are best trained at an early age.In fact, you’d better start training when you first bring it home.

Keeping Your Bichon Crate-trained.

When it first comes home with you, introduce the crate to your dog.Select a cozy crate that’s roomy, too.For this, you need a crate with enough room for an adult-sized dog.Pad the crate using old rugs to make it cushy and comfy.Allow your new pet get over chewing prior to buying him anything more expensive.

The crate works your purpose well enough. You’d like for your pet to view the crate as his room, just like you see yours as mine.Use it solely for pleasant activitites; never for punishment.Sooner than later, your little furry friend will see the crate as a safe place to find comfort in.And when he comes around, that serves you well. The crate helps to control your dog when you’re out of the house.

The Pot and Your Dog.

Inspite of being intelligent and obedient pets, your dog needs consistent frequency.Because they’re relatively small creatures you’d be making plenty of trips outside when potty-training.Observe your pup keenly the first few days. When he starts showing signs of needing to pee, take him out to a spot on the yard you previously chose as his deposit place.Repeat your potty word while the dog is peeing or pooping and pat him for doing so.Some time soon, your pet begins associating the command with the elimination process. When still in the house and the dog accidentally poofs, take him outside to the deposit spot and state the command sternly.

The Bully Dog Syndrome.

When you’re out and about with your pet and he sees another dog, that makes him feel insecure.Too bad for small dogs, they show their insecurity by howling and barking loudly, annoying the other dog.Left to his own defenses, your little bichon frise could be in a dogfight with a huge pitbull. That’s an uncomfortable thought. So when you and your dog are out for a walk, bear these in mind.

Be on top of things and keep your dog leashed. The leash prevents your dog from going beyond his boundaries.

Communicate calm and confidence to your pet especially when he sees other dogs.Your dog imitates your behavior. If you stay composed, your pet stays composed as well. That reassures your dog and makes bullying the other dog unnecessary.

Introduce your bichon to the other.Talk calmly and hold your dog at a safe distance from the other dog.
