It’s a night for scary surprises, lots of free candy for kids, and the chance to dress up in Halloween costumes. There is no reason that your pet cannot get in on all of the fun — minus the chocolate, of course. In the past few years, pet Halloween costumes are becoming easier to find due to manufacturers beginning to produce them on a larger scale.. These pet costumes, which can be super heroes, villains, or anything in between, are becoming more popular whether they are purchased over the internet or from a local store.
The assortment and selection of Halloween pet costumes are dramatically higher, due to the Internet acting as the largest, albeit virtual, mall on the globe. Even the most finicky of pet owner is sure to find something they approve of among the vast variety offered by specialty stores and designers. With Halloween costumes being lightweight, even the possible cost of shipping fees isn’t likely to be a significant one.
When selecting pet costumes, it’s smart to measure your cat or dog beforehand so you know what size to purchase. Remember, that not all costumes will be available in a one-size-fits-all. In fact, most quality outfits are specially made for various size animals. Labrador retrievers and poodles probably wouldn’t enjoy the same size costume, so avoid designers who use one-size-fits-all designs.
Also, remember to find dog costumes that you believe your pet will be comfortable wearing for some time. As they are already covered in fur, try to find a fabric that breathes and is lightweight. Remember also that many pets are not going to immediately appreciate being put into a Halloween costume unless they are used to being dressed. If you want to have your furry friend out and about in their costume on Halloween night, take a few days prior to accustom them to it. To get them comfortable, show them the costume, put it on them for a short amount of time, and take it back off. Immediately praise them for being good and give them a treat or other reward. It won’t take long for you pet to not only not fight the wearing of the costume, but be happily anticipating the treat they know is going to come. Be certain to carry some extra treats with you that night – after all, they can’t have chocolate, and everyone deserves a special treat on Halloween.
