April 2nd, 2010 by admin

For people with a family, it is a proven fact that aquiring a pet can be very good for them and also you. And pet birds tend to be among some of the best pets that you can obtain. They do not require as much of your time as cats and dogs do, they’re very good pets for those that have kids and individuals who do not have a lot of time on their hands as a result of obligations,

Just like other animals though your bird can come down with an illness, and since the likelihood of your knowing your bird well enough to tell when it’s sick is slight, you might never know until it is to late.. Fortunately though, there are some things that can be done to help you to pay closer attention to the bird that will help you to be aware if it becomes ill.

If your bird is a singer like most do, it is quite easy to tell if a bird is ill by listening to it. Singing is the way that birds communicate with the outside world. A lot of people that don’t know any better think that a bird is just making noise, but as you get to know the bird you will be able to tell the separate sounds that it makes throughout the day. SWme birds like to sing one song during the evening hours and another different song in the morning. You may also notice that your bird will make different sounds when coming into contact with the various members in your family.

There will be noises that it makes when you change its food or water, or when you put something in the cage. It will become your responsibility as a pet owner to take the time and understand these variations in your pet. That way, you can notice when they change. If your bird stops making the noises that they have always made, or makes new noises you have never heard before, they might be sick.

Movements are also something that will change with a birds behavior patterns. You will be able to notice changes in the birds activities in both the day and night hours as well as know by the bird patterns where it most likes to perch and hang out.

Being aware of this is important because if it has a sudden behavioral change like hanging out on the floor of the cage rather that it’s favorite perch you’ll know that it is time to take notice and pay attention to the bird. Also, if it is moving much more than usual, and trying to fly out of the cage, it also might be sick, and there should be something done about it. If your bird is experiencing these kinds of changes, don’t hesitate to talk to your veterinarian.

It appears that it’s all about getting to know your bird, and the most effective way you could really do that is always to put in a sprinkle of time in attending to it.
