Cleanliness is important at the verterinary
Nov 1st, 2009 by admin

When you are thinking vet, what is the first thing that comes into your head first? Perhaps a pet injury or illness? It is safe to say that cleanliness is not in your head right now right. If though you were to think about a normal doctor's surgery it would be one of the first things that comes into mind. There is certainly no way that you would sit in a normal surgery that is covered in dust, marks and one that smells. In fact with so many people going into the doctor’s everyday cleanliness is very important. If a surgery is not clean then it is possible for diseases, illnesses and germs to spread to a person sitting within the room. So why should things be different for a veterinary?

It most certainly shouldn't be. Hair, skin, fleas, germs and dirt are all things your pet can let loose in the waiting room of a veterinary by having a simple scratch or bite or anything. It can be possible for humans to actually get some of the things the pets have if the area is not treated in the right way. Is there a real solution to this problem? A big thing to do is a general clean at the end of every day. As well as this commercial laundry can come into play too. One of the best ways to stop the things from spreading is to wash the blankets you use.

Commercial washing machines is the best way to do this as they can be made for the purpose of washing these types of material, getting the hair and residue off to stop the spread of diseases.
So next time you visit the veterinary make sure it is clean and if you are the owner of one then check your washing machines are doing the job they are supposed to.

Passion, Compassion And Hard Work,
Apr 21st, 2009 by admin

Mankind has at least always and hopefully will always care for all the animals on the planet. From the pooch on the chair to the penguin that may have suffered an oil spill in the ocean. The need for the veterinary technician continues, as every vet requires one.

The studies are not as intense for the veterinary technician as for a vet, but there are still some major things that need to be learned. Before even wanting to study for a vet or veterinary technician, you will have to have the passion and compassion for animals. Even though being a veterinary technician, or vet assistant as it is also called, you would need to understand that it is not about just pampering animals, it’s about caring enough, healing and treating them too.

Certification Is Essential

There should be a veterinary technician school in your region, if not you would have to probably go to your closest university or college campus for tutoring. You will need to be qualified and certified to do the work expected from you.
There is no easy way for becoming a veterinary technician besides that you study hard, and also the courses are not cheap too.

However the veterinary technician job is not the most glamorous, but it is filled with compassion and hard work. Yes there can be times of fun and games with the animals, and just observing their natural behavior can be hilarious at times, however strange the animal too. Humans and animals both have their own ways.

The duties of a veterinary technician are not as simple as one would assume. There are medical procedures that have to be seen to, specimens that need to be collected for testing, physical examinations, immunization, dental procedures, helping with giving birth and euthanasia’s, and of course spaying of bitches and neutering of males.

Routine Check-Ups

Being a vet or veterinary techniciandoes not mean you have no compassion for humans as you try on a daily basis to help humans help their own pets when in distress or pain, or just because it is time for that routine injection or check-up. The only thing your pet ever asked for was a bit of food and proper attention for all their unconditional love. Is it that easy to neglect or abandon your pet, and if you could do that to a pet then you could easily do it to your own child too? Never present a pet to someone who is irresponsible or does not love pets at all, it is actually the cruelest thing you could do possibly.
