The Doberman Pinscher Is One Men’s Dog
July 6th, 2011 by admin

Among the various breeds of dogs today there are those that people tend to view as being excessively aggressive and ferocious. The Doberman Pinscher is a good example of this kind of breed. Starting from these basic traits of some dogs, early breeders created this  breed in the purpose of personal defence. It had to be a large dog, intimidating, fearless and willing to defend its owner. But these dogs also needed to be obedient and only act if instructed to by the owner. The dogs of this breed were perfect for jobs like personal defense,  police or war dog. Nowadays, people are looking for this kind of companion not only because they are impressive and protective dogs, but also due to their intelligence, loyalty and good nature, besides the fact they are beautifully looking with their sleek coats, their build and their distinctive bodies.

When it comes to being aggressive toward people and other dogs the doberman pinscher ranks on the list of breeds that might display this type of behavior but they rank very low. Generally they are very protective toward their owner and loved ones and will be sociable with other people and dogs. It is always very important to remember that the dog is a product of the home in which it has been raised and trained. If the dog is well trained and well looked after it will be a wonderful pet for the duration of its life and you will be a Dobey fancier for the rest of yours!.

These days there are studies to test the different breeds to determine what type of personality traits they have and how these can be curtailed if need be. One such test was able to find that when it came to intelligence the Doberman Pinschers ranked high, as it did also when it came to playfulness. As for aggressiveness it ranked fairly low on the test, certainly in keeping with many other popular dog breeds. Certainly the Doberman is protective but they do not tend to react without thinking. They look aggressive, but don’t attack without good reason. Though many people link aggressiveness to the size of the dog, studies revealed that smaller breeds, like the Yorkshire Terrier and even the Chihuahua are more aggressive than the Doberman.

The Doberman is an intelligent and easy to train dog that is strong and enjoys playing. This dog will bond with his owner and will try to do just about anything that the owner expects. They are full of energy, jolly and very sociable within its family group. A distinctive personality trait of this breed is that it bonds with one specific person and will be beside that person for as long as it can.

As it is the case with any breed of dogs, the Doberman is susceptible for some health issues and certain conditions are more common and dangerous in this breed. All the owners of Doberman should learn about the personality traits of the breed and about its health sensibilities. By doing so you will minimize any unnecessary or unforeseen issues arising further down the line.

Its intelligence and devotion makes the doberman pinscher breed so popular. You will be quite familiar with how wonderful these dogs are if you know someone who owns one.. Choose a Doberman for you from a certified breeder. Before buying, research the breed  as well as the breeders or source of the dog.
